Our History

Kingsriver Community was founded by Pat and Jet Phelan in 1986. Pat and Jet began the journey as Kingsriver Furniture. Kingsriver provided high quality, hand made furniture to a variety of customers all over the country. This furniture was unique in the quality of the craftsmanship, as well as the love and care engrained within. Even in these early days care for individuals with disabilities was of foremost importance to Pat and Jet, with participants placed front and centre, with meaningful roles in the work.

In more recent times, Kingsriver has transitioned away from furniture, and wholly towards residential and day services. These services were first provided in our centre in Ennisnag, Stoneyford, Co. Kilkenny. This has since expanded to the wider Kilkenny area.
