First Aid Response (FAR)
FAR training equips learners with skills and competencies to respond adequately to an emergency situation. Knowledge gained from the course can be very fitting to a wide range of areas in life. FAR personal in roles outside of healthcare, such as construction, education, sport, and parents in general, can be a valuable member of any team.

Who:
There is no stipulations on who can attend the course as long students are physically capable of carrying out skills gained, i.e. CPR, bandaging limbs, etc.
Instructor:
The course instructor is Tanya Mullins. Tanya is a Team Leader in our Day Service here at Kingsriver. She has over 30 years experience in the social care sector, across a number of roles. Tanya has been a CFR/AED instructor for a number of years before becoming out FAR instructor here at Kingsriver.
Where:
The course will be delivered in person at our centre in Ennisnag, Stoneyford, Co. Kilkenny.
How Long:
The full FAR course takes 3 days. This is either delivered in 3 consecutive days, or 3 of the same day, 3 weeks in a row.
The refresher FAR course, where the students previous FAR certificate hasn't expired, takes 2 days.

Assessment:
You will be required to complete a 20 questions MCQ on the final day. Following theoretical examination you will perform a practical FAR skills assessment.
Certification:
On successful completion of the course students will receive a PHECC First Aid Responder certificate. This certificate is valid for 2 years from date of completion.
